Our “Club on the Edge of the Wilderness”

Our “Club on the Edge of the Wilderness” aims to be a magical meeting place for all. Inspired by the 18th-century “Brotherhood Clubs” in rural areas, where nobles, artists, and wealthy citizens gathered for enchanting readings, music, political discussions, and scientific lectures, we envision a similar space at Kusawa Lake, Yukon.

Around 1800, salon life flourished in Germany, with educated and wealthy brothers hosting clubs for the free exchange of ideas, transcending class and gender barriers. In response to the tumultuous excesses of the French Revolution, the new mindset in Germany aimed to elevate citizens to the lifestyle of the nobility, giving rise to the enchanting philosophies of German Idealism and Early Romanticism, both of which remain alive in Freemasonry today.

We seek to revive the tradition of combining philosophy, literature, and music in this Brotherhood Club “On the Edge of the Wilderness,” connecting it to the heyday of German intellectual life in the Romantic era, where an idealistic fundamental feeling was conveyed across all genres. Imagine a place where ideas dance like fireflies, and every gathering is a step into a world of wonder and discovery.

As we embark on this journey, we are reminded of the past, where gatherings were filled with laughter, deep conversations, and the joy of shared discoveries. We hope to recreate that sense of nostalgia, where every visit feels like a return to a cherished memory, and every new experience adds to the tapestry of our shared history.
